Villa Colonnello

Colonnello is a renovation and reinterpretation project of the interior spaces of an apartment located in a suggestive and sinuous hilly context of the Berici hills with a view of the city of Vicenza. The philosophy of the project was to enhance the existing structure by maintaining the key points such as: the views towards the outside, the internal layout and the original construction details. Specifically, the internal layout has been simplified and reduced to the essentials so as to obtain larger, tidier and more exploitable spaces with refined and tailor-made furnishings. Given the presence of multiple types of Palladian flooring, it was decided to use a material palette limited to: wood, iron, satin brass and Vicenza stone; thus managing to create a bond that consolidates the relationship between pre-existing and project materials. The central area of the apartment, the darkest and least valorised, has been made the functional and distribution fulcrum by transforming it into a service compartment consisting of a furnishing element with pure and linear shapes. The noble area, however, has been amplified by replacing the blind walls with filtering walls which increase brightness, thus consolidating the relationship between inside and outside and making the whole apartment full of natural light.
