Villa Colonnello

Il Colonnello is a renovation and reinterpretation project of the interiors of an apartment set in the Colli Berici, overlooking the city of Vicenza. The design philosophy enhances the existing structure by preserving the views, the spatial layout, and the original construction details. The internal distribution has been simplified to create larger, more orderly, and functional spaces, furnished with bespoke elements. The presence of the original Venetian terrazzo flooring guided the choice of an essential material palette composed of wood, iron, satin-finished brass, and Vicenza stone, creating continuity between the existing elements and the new interventions. The central area, initially underutilised, has been transformed into the functional core of the home through a service volume defined by pure and linear forms. The main living area has instead been expanded, replacing solid walls with filtering elements that enhance the diffusion of natural light. This intervention strengthens the relationship between interior and exterior and gives the spaces greater brightness and visual continuity. The result is a balanced, contemporary space that remains respectful of the apartment’s original identity.
